Colombia El Jardin GESHA 150g
About this coffee
This 100% Gesha microlot was grown and processed at Finca El Jardín, which translates to ‘the garden’ in Spanish. This stunning property is located in the municipality of Santa Barbara, in Colombia’s state of Antioquia. The farm is 67-hectares in size (15 under coffee) and sits at a staggering 1,950 – 2,050m above sea level, with rich volcanic soil and abundant water sources that contribute to excellent productivity — even at such a high elevation. What is Gesha? Gesha coffee seeds were first collected from Ethiopian forests in the 1930s and studied in Tanzania and Costa Rica, where researchers noted their rust resistance but passed on widespread planting due to brittle branches. Introduced to Panama’s high-elevation Boquete region in the 1960s by Francisco Serracin, the trees went largely unnoticed until the Peterson family of Hacienda La Esmeralda isolated them following a leaf rust outbreak. Cultivated separately, this unique lot won the Best of Panama competition in 2004, forever changing the industry with its distinct, delicate floral aroma and flavor profile.
